Steps For Adults

    Driver's Education is not required but is recommended for adult students.

    Many adult students struggle with learning to drive due to lack of knowledge of road rules and driving techniques.

    You must pass a knowledge exam at the DMV to obtain a Permit to practice driving.

    Even if you are an adult, a permit is required to practice driving.

    70 Hours of driving is recommended before taking your behind the wheel test

    Learning to drive requires, dedication, attentiveness, cognitive skills and logic.

Steps For Minors

    Minors must complete 30 hours of driver's education before applying for a driver's license.

    Driver's Education can be completed online or in person with a state licensed driving school.

    You must be at least 15 1/2 and pass a knowledge exam at the DMV to obtain a Permit to practice driving.

    The permit is not valid until signed by a state licensed driving instructor confirming you have completed your first driving lesson.

    You must complete 6 hours of behind the wheel training with a state licensed driving instructor.

    Additionally, you must complete 50 hours of behind the wheel training with a qualified driver (parent. guardian or etc).

    There is a 6 month waiting period between the time you get your permit, until you can take the behind the wheel at the DMV.

    The 6 month waiting period no longer applies, if you turn 18.

    You must pass a driving test at the DMV to receive a provisional driver's license.

    You must bring the yellow DMV certificate, received from your driving instructor before DMV will allow you to take the test.

    Your license is provisional for 1 year or until you turn 18.

    A Provisional License has restrictions that limit the time you can drive and who can be in the car.
